Furniture Mover / Laborer PT

There are many industry terms for a Furniture Mover..loader, humper, helper, laborer...but in this role you work with a Driver and crew and customer to perform a household or commercial move.

You will perform packing and in state moves or pick up shipments going out of state and bring them back to the warehouse/dock. You will be home at the end of the day, unless you choose to go on a 'short haul' shipment which means an overnight trip to regional destinations like DE, VA, or PA for example. 

Moving furniture requires some thinking as you want to perform your job safely and efficiently. It also requires the stamina to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures. The good news is your boss is not usually hanging over your shoulder but you must follow the lead of the Driver and have a team player attitude. It is enjoyable to see different homes, cities and states and meet all different kinds of people.

Sea Cure does not perform clean outs, evictions, or hazardous debris removal. Our customers are usually families, professionals, retirees, seniors, and also interior designers.

We are 40+ years family owned and operated and work closely with our team members. We do not require you to do anything we do not do ourselves. We strive to maintain high standards so even if a candidates comes with moving experience, we sometimes have to adjust bad habits. But we too are always willing to learn something new. Every mover and crew has different styles ...it's all about making it happen safely, working through obstacles, and keeping the customer happy. 

Responsibilities

• Professionally pack, load and unload household and commercial goods in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
• Work with Driver or Crew lead to perform services as instructed.
• Properly pad and protect all articles prior to loading.
• Carry, stage, and load articles in a safe and effective manner (road loading).
• Understand and follow safety protocols and company policies.
• Perform basic disassembly and reassembly of furniture pieces.
• Clean up debris and equipment and reset the equipment for the next day including any material or special tools that may need to go on board.
• If performing packing, properly pack to industry standards and properly label.
• Work alongside the customer(s) and communicate respectfully to help them navigate the day.

Education Requirements

• None.
• Must be able to communicate clearly and respectfully, follow instruction, and show up willing and able to learn and work.

Experience Requirements

• No experience is required. If you have no work experience we will put you on an introductory schedule to be followed and trained.
• Any experience showing a history in physical labor or customer facing work is a plus.
• Any experience in the moving industry is preferred. But we will train to our standard of service.

Qualifications

• Must be physically fit to move furniture and boxes.
• Must not have any physical restrictions including lifting, bending, standing.
• It is essential to the job role to be able to carry at least 50lbs or more.
• Must be able to pass a 7 year background and drug test.
• Must have reliable means of getting to work on time by 8:00am Monday through Friday or schedule days if part time.
• Part time must advise planning at least three weeks in advance which days they are available to work.
